Beyond the Mary Gates Research ScholarshipsLeadership Scholarships and Community Investment Scholarships awarded directly to undergraduate students, the Mary Gates Endowment for Students also partners with UW programs to extend scholarship support to undergraduate students engaged in unique and impactful learning opportunities across UW.

  • College & Career Readiness Assistant (CCRA) Internships

    Community Engagement & Leadership Education Center

    An academic-year internship for undergraduates to support partner school College and Career Counselors in targeting and supporting high school and middle school college readiness. Interns receive a $7,000 stipend, supported by the Mary Gates Endowment for Students, for completing an internship.

  • College Edge

    $2,500 scholarships to support incoming transfer students' participation in credit-based transition seminars before Autumn quarter.

  • Friday Harbor Labs

    Scholarships (average awards between $1,000-$3,000) to support educational costs for undergraduate students conducting research at Friday Harbor Labs during the autumn and spring quarters.

  • Robinson Center for Young Scholars

    Mary Gates Endowment for Students scholarships support an outstanding UW Academy student each year, identified and selected through the Robinson Center Program application process, to encourage professional and personal development by providing approximately $12,000 per year for two years of their educational costs.

  • Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities

    Office of Undergraduate Research

    A summer program for undergraduates to engage in scholarly research in the arts and humanities. Students participating receive a $7,500 scholarship funded by the Mary Gates Endowment for Students.

  • Summer Public Service Fellowships

    Community Engagement & Leadership Education Center

    A summer fellowship for undergraduates to develop their civic leadership capacity through work in the non-profit and government sectors. Fellows receive a $5,000 stipend, supported by the Mary Gates Endowment for Students, for completing an internship.

  • UW Honors Program scholarships

    Mary Gates Endowment for Students scholarships supporting incoming and early-career WA resident UW undergraduates, identified and selected through the Honors Program incoming and continuing scholarship application processes. Scholarships provide approximately $12,000 per year for the first and/or second years.

  • Undergraduate Research Collective

    Office of Undergraduate Research

    A campus-wide, interdisciplinary research initiative designed for first year, second year, and new transfer students to explore research in a supportive and welcoming environment. Students participating receive an $8,000 scholarship, supported by the Mary Gates Endowment for Students, over the course of their two year participation.
