Mary Gates Endowment for Students

Advising & events

The Mary Gates Endowment offers advising year-round, across autumn, winter, spring, and summer quarters, through scheduled appointments and weekly in-person drop-in hours. How best to reach us depends on where you are in the process.

If you're interested in the Community Investment Scholarship

If you're interested in the Community Investment Scholarship, email the Mary Gates Endowment at mgates@uw.edu to schedule an appointment. Please review the Community Investment Scholarship pages in advance for scholarship information and eligibility, and include your general availability when you write.

If you're a future Leadership or Research Scholarship applicant

Start with the resources and an info session, then bring specific questions to a workshop or email us.

Take some time to explore the resources on this site, and either attend an info session or watch the recorded sessions on the Get Started page — these cover most of the questions applicants tend to have. When you'd like support with your application materials ahead of the deadline, sign up for one of our workshops found on the event calendar. As you develop your materials, note any more specific questions and bring them to an advisor at a workshop, or email mgates@uw.edu with anything the site doesn't answer.

If you're a current Mary Gates Scholar

If you're a current Mary Gates Scholar with questions about your scholarship, or you'd like to meet with our staff, please reach out to mgates@uw.edu.
