Project
The Reality of Climate Refugees from Central America and Prospects for US Immigration
This project seeks to gather information about climate refugees from Central America and their chances of migration to the United States. It strives to discover why this population has gone largely unnoticed for so long and how the lived experiences of migrants can tell this story. Solutions are explored and future pathways are paved.
What I learned
I have learned that climate refugees from this region of the world are a marginalized group and need further research and recognition. Climate change will continue to impact Central America in the future, and adaptation, mitigation, and cooperation are needed to move past this issue.
Advice for future applicants
Trust yourself and trust the process. It may seem like there is so much to do, but one step at a time gets you a long way.
