“Puppets:” A Dramedy on Kink Identity, Erasure, and Acceptance

puppets is a bold dramedy exploring kink erasure, BDSM stigma, and the ostracization of the kink community through the eyes of an inexperienced emotional masochist navigating self-discovery and identity. Written and directed by a University of Washington student as her human rights thesis, this original Seattle theatre production challenges societal misconceptions and sheds light on the struggles of those whose desires don’t fit the norm.

What I learned

I have learned that leadership starts with knowing yourself and your capabilities, and choosing who to work with! I’ve been so lucky to have a fantastic team working on the show with me, and I’ve been able to delegate many responsibilities that I do not have the skills or time for.

Advice for future applicants

Pick your partners/mentor/team carefully! I’m having a fantastic time working with people I enjoy being around. It really makes all the difference.
