Nanofabrication of Silica-Shelled Lead Halide Perovskite Quantum Dots as Single-Photon Emitters
Exhibiting narrowband photoluminescence and tunable surface functionalization, colloidal perovskite quantum dots are promising candidates for light-emitting technologies and quantum information processing. This investigation enlists a solution-based synthesis with silica encapsulation techniques to afford lead halide perovskite quantum dots with desirable size, quantum yields, and optoelectronic features well-suited for single-photon applications.
What I learned
Research has been the most treasurable component of my undergraduate career. Learning to solve challenging chemistry problems in cutting-edge research both collaboratively and independently has been a rewarding process. Most prominently, research has given me the opportunity to explore my scientific interest outside the curriculum and to expand my breadth of knowledge by connecting with equally passionate researchers. Working with graduate and faculty mentors in chemistry research in the past three years has helped me grow as a scholar and guided me in finding my long-term goal of becoming an educator.
Advice for future applicants
Be passionate, patient, and perseverant when doing research, and all the while remember to prioritize your own health and happiness.
