Impact question
A one-page reflection on how your work and the award may influence or shape where you are headed.
One of the Endowment's goals is to invest in scholarships that help students reach their educational goals, and the application includes a short impact question. In one page (double-spaced, 12-point font, 1-inch margins), describe how the leadership project you'll pursue during your award period enhances your education and the development of your future plans, and how receiving the scholarship will benefit your growth as a leader.
In your answer, include:
- your future goals and how this leadership experience will help you reach them — the specific leadership skills you're gaining, and the mentorship you'll receive, and how they move you closer to what you envision;
- how the financial award will let you engage in your project, and how the scholarship and becoming a Mary Gates Scholar will enhance your educational experience at UW and beyond.
